Set booking notice, booking window, and cancellation rules

Understand the timing controls customers encounter when booking or cancelling.

On this page

Booking rules set how soon and how far ahead customers can book, when customer cancellations close, and how much time to leave between appointments.

Find the booking rules

Open Settings → Booking rules. The advanced settings are inside Advanced booking rules.

  1. 1

    Set Minimum booking notice (minutes)

This is how long before an appointment customers must book. For example, 120 means at least two hours ahead.

  2. 2

    Set Booking window (days ahead)

This controls how far into the future customers can book. For example, 30 means up to 30 days ahead.

  3. 3

    Set Cancellation cutoff (hours)

This controls how long before the appointment customer cancellations close. A value of 0 allows cancellation at any time through the customer cancellation flow.

  4. 4

    Set Buffer between appointments (minutes)

This adds a business-wide gap between appointments. Individual services can also have preparation and cleanup time.

Customer cancellation policy

Use Cancellation policy (optional) to describe your policy to customers. This text explains your policy; the cutoff setting controls the timing of customer cancellations. After online cancellation closes, the customer management page directs customers to contact the business to request a change.
