Services

Add and edit your services

Names, durations, prices, and descriptions — and why an optimistic duration is what makes days run late.

Services are the things a customer can book. Each one carries a duration and a price, and the duration is what shapes your whole day — it decides how times are laid out on your booking page and how much of your diary each booking consumes.

Adding a service

  1. Step 1: Open Services from the Setup group

  2. Step 2: Add the service and give it a clear name

Use the name a customer would recognise, not your internal shorthand. “Cut and finish” beats “C&F”.

  3. Step 3: Set duration and price, then save

The service appears on your booking page as soon as it is active.

What each field does

SettingWhat it does
Service nameShown on your booking page and in confirmation emails and reminders.
DurationHow long the appointment blocks out, in minutes. Your gap between appointments is added on top automatically.
PriceShown on the booking page unless you have turned prices off for everyone in Settings → Booking.
Customer-facing descriptionA sentence or two explaining what the service includes. Worth writing for anything a first-time customer might misjudge.
ActiveOnly active services can be booked. Turning it off hides the service without deleting its history.

Getting duration right

Use the time the appointment genuinely takes, start to finish, including greeting and settling up. Not the best case on a good day.

An optimistic duration is the single most common cause of a day that runs late. The booking page will happily fill your diary to the minute, so if every appointment quietly takes ten minutes longer than you told it, by mid-afternoon you are an hour behind and it compounds.

Build the overrun into the gap, not the service

If you want breathing room, set it once as the gap between appointments rather than padding every service. It is easier to change later and easier to reason about. See Booking rules: notice, cancellation, and how far ahead.

Retiring a service

Turn a service inactive rather than deleting it. Existing appointments keep their history and reporting stays intact, but nobody can book it again. Deleting is for things you added by mistake.

A service also stops being bookable if nobody who performs it is working — see Why a time slot isn't showing to customers.
